If you would like to stay at “home”, you can freely and unlimited make use of swimming pool and the facilities around the pool like the lounge sets, pool table, dartboard, table tennis and basket. Or, fire up the barbecue and enjoy a nice meal with a satisfying glass of wine.

The Opatija Riviera is situated in the Kvarner bay on the eastern coast of the Istrian peninsula. It stretches for 25km along the coastal belt from Volosko to Moscenicka Draga, under the Ucka Mountain. During the summer you can enjoy clean sea, beautiful beaches and quality entertainment.
The nearest beach to Villa Mariva is Volosko, which is only 3.5km away, takes up to 10 minutes by car. Volosko is a quiet place with small bathing terraces along the promenade “Lungo Mare”. Opatija and Volosko are known for the Austrian/Hungarian history. In the end of the 19th century the richest would come here to spend their vacation.
From Volosko, by following the 12km long Lungo Mare promenade, you will walk passed the most beautiful beaches in Opatija like Icici, Ika and all the way to Lovran, which is at the right hand of Opatija. Or, you can take the car and drive to Medveja or especially Moscenicka Draga. Selected by CNN as one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe.

Just 300m, from Villa Mariva you will find local tennis club where you can “sign-in” for a tennis match with your partner or with other guest from Villa Mariva.
Villa Mariva is located on the borders of Nature Park Ucka. If you are into morning runs or an intensive mountainbike trail you are in the right place.
Hiking to the top of the Ucka Nature Park is also one of the possibilities. Just 200m from Villa Mariva a hiking track starts which will take you all the way up to Vojak (1400m above sea level).
Day Trip – Nature

Plitvice Waterfalls – The best known Croatia UNESCO protected nature-park, just 120 km away,
Risnjak – Another nature park of Croatia less than 40km from Villa Mariva. The mountains of Park Risnjak are visible from the villa.
Krk, Rab, Cres – The beautiful islands in the Kvarner bay. You can combine to visit all of them in a single day by combining car drive and ferry and still have time to enjoy crystal clear water to refresh and take the time to taste the mediterranean kitchen.
Postojna Caves, Slovenia – The world’s most captivating cave with magnificent cave formations, is 60km away.
Day Trip – Cities
Villa Mariva is very centrally located. You can visit 4 different countries in less than 2 hours’ drive. With 15 minutes by car, the Slovenian border is the nearest. A little bit over an hour and you are in Italy. To get to Austria will take you a little bit less than 2 hours. Lastly, the Bosnian border is an approximate 2 hour drive.
Rijeka – the province capital of Rijeka is just 10-15 minutes by car or tram. The city lights of Rijeka is what you can enjoy in the evening from your terrace at Villa Mariva.
Zagreb – Croatian capital is 140 km far away and less than 2 hour drive by car.
Pula/Istria – Take a coastline drive, relax and enjoy. In one hour you will be in Pula, the city of the Arena. The Arena is the only remaining Roman amphitheatre to have four side towers and with all three Roman architectural orders entirely preserved.
Trieste, Italy – A unique city in Italy, often forgotten by tourists visiting Venezia. Trieste is approximately 50 km away.
Venezia – There is a lot of 1-day ferry trips organized from Opatija to Venezia.
